Christie - Vocalist & GuitarI grew up in Crane Hill, a little community outside of the city of Cullman. My parents, Jerry and Ann Trucks, made sure that my brother, sister, and myself were all in church every time the doors were open. At the age of 10, I asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. According to my mom, I have always had the love of music, whether it be trying to sing at church, or pecking out "Jesus Loves Me" on the piano. I began taking piano lessons at a very early age, then going on to be in the band in high school. I had never listened to bluegrass music until Ron and I began dating in April of 1995. He then introduced me to the music of Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, The Isaacs, Alison Krauss + Union Station, and many others. From then on, I fell in love with that style of music. Ron and I got married in June of 1996. Ron would pick around on the guitar around the house, and I reminded him of a time when we both were in school and I asked him to teach me how to play the guitar. He told me he would one day. Little did I know at the time I asked him, that it would take him all of 12 years to get around to it. He taught me the three basic chords, and my fingers hurt, so I didn't show much interest. A little later on, while sitting around the house singing, Ron and I decided I should learn to play the banjo. We started a group, and began practicing every weekend. We started out singing in our home churches and had just began to branch out farther in our community when God decided it was time to bless us with a child. In July of 2001, our beautiful girl, Abby, was born. Later that fall, God led Ronald and Jennifer to join our group. From that moment on, we have felt complete. Then, I learned to play the guitar, picking up a lot from Ron and Ronald, and doing a little self teaching with a video. God has continued to bless me every day with my wonderful loving husband and best friend - my beautiful daughter that brightens my life every day - our wonderful families - and our dear friends. I could never begin to repay God for all he has done for me and the blessings He has given me every day of my life, but I will spend every breathing moment I have doing whatever I can to please Him and do His will. |
